Single-layer pancreaticojejunostomy may lower complication rates

A meta-analysis of ten studies involving 1,811 patients found that single-layer pancreaticojejunostomy (PJ) is associated with a significantly reduced rate of clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula (cr-popf) compared to double-layer PJ. The single-layer approach demonstrated a lower grade B popf rate and a consistent trend of reduced complications across various subgroups, including those defined by international criteria and minimally invasive techniques.
