New nomogram predicts disease-free survival in colon cancer patients

A prognostic study developed validated pre- and post-operative nomograms predicting disease-free survival (DFS) in patients who underwent curative resection for right-sided colon cancer. In a cohort of 822 patients, 1-, 3-, and 5-year DFS rates were found to be 85.6%, 72.5%, and 57.6%, respectively. Key risk factors included age, gender, ASA score, albumin levels, tumor stage, and lymph node involvement. These prediction tools assist clinicians in risk stratification and treatment planning.
