The systematic review reveals that implementing shared decision-making (SDM) in gastrointestinal cancer care faces challenges despite its importance for patient autonomy. Researchers synthesized data from 37 qualitative studies, identifying nine influencing factors categorized into two subthemes. Key strategies include enhancing medical staff’s understanding of patients’ needs and improving communication skills to facilitate SDM. These findings emphasize the necessity for healthcare professionals to actively engage with patients and their families to foster collaborative decision-making in treatment.
