In a study involving patients undergoing elective lobectomy, maximum constriction velocity (mcv) of pupils was identified as a strong independent predictor of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). Those with higher mcv showed an 87% reduced risk of PONV, while gender impacted risk, with males having a 65% lower likelihood compared to females. Notably, mcv also influences postoperative recovery quality through its relationship with PONV, with a receiver operating characteristics area under the curve of 0.831 indicating strong predictive utility.
