Different surgical options show varying effectiveness for GERD relief

A meta-analysis involving 9,516 patients found that all surgical procedures for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) significantly improved post-operative outcomes. Nissen fundoplication outperformed transoral incisionless fundoplication in reducing acid exposure and Demeester scores. However, Toupet fundoplication and magnetic sphincter augmentation provided superior symptom relief compared to other methods. These insights enhance understanding of various surgical anti-reflux techniques, highlighting the importance of individualized treatment approaches for GERD patients.
