Harmonizing Data Dictionaries in Colorectal Cancer Registries

Researchers conducted a mapping exercise to identify opportunities for data dictionary harmonization in colorectal cancer outcome registries. They compared data dictionaries from three major registries and developed a combined comprehensive dataset of 225 fields under seven domains. A common dataset with 38 overlapping fields was also created. The study highlighted areas of commonality and difference across registries and provided a foundation for benchmarking and harmonization of data dictionaries. The findings have the potential to facilitate meaningful international outcomes research.
