Portal Vein Resection in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms

Portal vein resection in surgery for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms was analyzed in this study. Among 666 patients, 8% underwent portal vein resection. Postoperative complications were comparable to standard resection, with a low 90-day mortality rate. Radical resection resulted in excellent 5-year overall and disease-specific survival rates. This study provides valuable data on the perioperative and long-term outcomes of portal vein resection, supporting its use as a potential cure for borderline resectable or locally advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms.
