Comparable Long-Term Survival in Robot-assisted and Laparoscopic Surgery for Colon Cancer

The study aimed to compare long-term survival outcomes in patients undergoing robot-assisted surgery (RAS) or laparoscopic surgery (LAS) for colon cancer. The analysis included 7565 patients, out of which 6905 (91%) underwent LAS and 660 (9%) underwent RAS. The findings revealed that LAS patients had a significantly higher risk of cancer recurrence compared to RAS patients. However, there were no significant differences between the two surgical platforms in terms of all-cause mortality or colon cancer-specific mortality.
