EUS-Guided Gallbladder Drainage Outshines Cholecystostomy Tubes

EUS-guided gallbladder drainage using lumen-apposing metal stents (EUS-GBD-LAMS) is safer and associated with shorter hospital stays compared to percutaneous cholecystostomy tubes in nonsurgical candidates with acute cholecystitis. A systematic review and meta-analysis showed EUS-GBD-LAMS had lower rates of delayed and overall adverse events, making it a preferred option for high-risk surgical patients.
