IFSO Worldwide Survey 2020-2021 shows a decrease in the number of metabolic and bariatric surgeries in 2020, but a positive trend in 2021, with sleeve gastrectomy remaining the most performed procedure. Regional protocols for surgery during COVID-19 were reported by 52% of national societies, with limited change in telemedicine and mortality data collection between 2020 and 2021.
