Similar Weight Loss and Psychological Health in Bariatric Surgery Patients with Chronic Pain

Patients with chronic pain syndromes showed similar improvements in weight and psychological wellbeing after bariatric metabolic surgery (BMS) compared to patients without pain. However, the relationship between weight loss and improved self-efficacy to control eating behaviors was weaker in patients with chronic pain. Further research is needed to understand the mechanism underlying pain and postoperative changes in psychological wellbeing and weight loss.
