Spleen-conserving surgeries are more common in patients with penetrating trauma, age under 65, stable vital signs, and low-grade injuries. These procedures were associated with a lower risk of pneumonia and venous thromboembolism compared to total splenectomy. Clinicians should consider spleen-conserving surgeries for appropriate patients to improve outcomes in splenic injuries.
