Impact of Intensive Pre-Operative Information Course on Long-Term Weight Loss Post-Bariatric Surgery

Intense pre-operative information course (IPIC) and higher pre-operative weight loss significantly contribute to sustained weight loss post-bariatric surgery, with 80.5% achieving EWL ≥ 50% and 53.1% achieving EWL ≥ 70%. Those who underwent IPIC had increased likelihood of maintaining EWL ≥ 50% and ≥ 70% after a median of 6.5 years, suggesting that IPIC and pre-operative weight loss play a crucial role in long-term weight outcomes and reducing weight regain.
