High Rate of Malnutrition Found After Single Anastomosis Sleeve Ileal Bypass

Researchers conducted a study on 30 patients who underwent single anastomosis sleeve ileal bypass (SASI) and found that despite good short-term weight loss and improvement in obesity-related complications, there was a high alarming rate of malnutrition observed, even in the short-term follow-up. This highlights the importance of evaluating novel metabolic and bariatric surgeries for their long-term effects and comparing them to established standard procedures before widespread adoption in clinical practice.
