Transmesocolic reconstruction reduces delayed gastric emptying after pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Antecolic reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy significantly increases the risk of delayed gastric emptying compared to transmesocolic reconstruction. Patients who underwent antecolic reconstruction had a higher incidence of severe delayed gastric emptying and a 2-fold increase in severe cases. Tmc reconstruction may be superior in minimizing the development and severity of delayed gastric emptying following pancreaticoduodenectomy.
