A survey of 121 healthcare professionals in 36 countries revealed that access to education, training, networking, and mentorship are key limiting factors for young clinical investigators in oncology. Participants under 40 years of age and from European countries were more involved in clinical trials, mainly funded by industry grants. Half of the respondents devote personal time to research without payment, and almost half lack an experienced mentor in their institution.
