Effectiveness of Kono-S Anastomosis in Reducing Recurrence in Crohn’s Disease

A nationwide study with 433 patients undergoing ileocolonic resection, including 155 with Kono-S anastomosis, found no significant reduction in endoscopic recurrence compared to conventional side-to-side anastomosis. In a 1:2 propensity score-matched comparison, endoscopic recurrence (≥i2) occurred in 47.5% of patients with Kono-S and 44.3% with conventional anastomosis, showing no statistically significant difference (p = 0.6745). Further research is needed to explore potential benefits on surgical recurrence with longer follow-up.
