Advanced laparoscopic hepatectomy in elderly Japanese patients showed similar or better safety compared to open hepatectomy, with lower mortality rates, reduced blood product use, and shorter hospital stays. The study highlights the feasibility and safety of advanced laparoscopic hepatectomy in elderly patients, supporting its use as a viable surgical option in Japan.
