Impact of Disease Phenotype and Biologic Therapy on Re-resection Rates in Crohn’s Disease

Re-resection rates in Crohn’s disease patients are significantly influenced by disease activity and stoma reversals. The study reveals that early initiation of biologic therapy after primary resection can reduce the risk of re-resection for specific disease phenotypes. Factors such as disease location, behavior, smoking, and perianal disease also play a role in re-resection. These findings emphasize the potential of biologic therapy as a disease-modifying strategy for certain patient subgroups.
