Increasing cases of non-hepatitis B and non-hepatitis C hepatocellular carcinoma (NBNC-HCC) prompt a comparison with hepatitis virus-associated HCC. A retrospective study of 1321 liver resections showed comparable operative outcomes and long-term survival between matched NBNC-HCC and HV-HCC groups. Independent prognostic factors for overall survival were identified, with NBNC-HCC cases reaching up to 70% of total resections.
