Predicting Surgical Aptitude

Surgeons’ performance may be predicted by psychomotor skills, personality, and motivation. A randomized trial involving surgical residents, experts, and medical students revealed that psychomotor skills predominantly influenced physicians’ training outcomes, while motivation and personality played key roles for students. This suggests that identifying individuals with high surgical potential early on could enhance surgical quality and meet future healthcare demands.
