Long-term Risk Reduction After Colonoscopy for Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer risk remains lower more than 15 years post-colonoscopy, challenging current screening guidelines. A population-based study in Ontario, Canada, with over 5 million participants showed reduced cancer incidence and mortality at all timepoints up to 15 years, even after the procedure. Individuals with negative colonoscopy results had significantly lower risk. The study suggests a reevaluation of the 10-year screening interval for these patients.
