Bariatric surgery reduces the risk of developing hidradenitis suppurativa

Bariatric surgery significantly reduces the risk of developing hidradenitis suppurativa (hs) in individuals with obesity, with a protective effect on hs recurrence. Individuals without a history of hs who underwent bariatric surgery had a significantly lower risk of de novo hs. Those with hs history showed a trend towards reduced hs recurrence after bariatric surgery. This study highlights the potential benefits of bariatric surgery in managing hs in individuals with obesity.
