Whipple Over the Splenic Artery (WOTSA) as an Alternative to Total Pancreatectomy for PDAC

Whipple over the splenic artery (WOTSA) can replace most total pancreatectomies for ductal adenocarcinoma, offering similar complication rates but improved postoperative glycemic status and potentially better disease-free survival. Results show no reoperations required in the WOTSA group due to pancreas or spleen issues, with comparable operative outcomes to total pancreatectomy. Findings suggest WOTSA as a safe and effective alternative for central-located pancreatic ductal cell adenocarcinoma.
