Improved Patient Outcomes with SPARC Collaboration

Establishing the SPARC program led to improved patient outcomes for retroperitoneal sarcoma at RPAAH and COBLH. The program saw an increase in operations from 15 to 35 cases annually, with liposarcomas and leiomyosarcomas being the most common types resected. The majority of cases underwent extended resections, resulting in a high rate of R0/R1 resections. Collaboration, centralized referrals, and a dedicated research team were key factors in the program’s success.
