OAGB and RYGB Improve Renal Function Equally

One-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) showed similar improvements in renal function one year post-surgery, with OAGB leading to greater weight loss. Both procedures resulted in significantly higher estimated glomerular filtration rates. Younger age and lower baseline renal function were associated with better postoperative outcomes. OAGB could be a viable option for individuals with obesity seeking to improve renal health.
