Superior outcomes of laparoscopic liver resection for NAFLD-associated HCC

Comparing laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) and open liver resection (OLR) for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (NAFLD-HCC), LLR showed lower rates of complications, blood loss, transfusion, and shorter postoperative stay. Both groups had comparable major morbidities and survival outcomes. LLR appears to be a preferred treatment option over OLR for NAFLD-HCC, pending careful patient selection based on tumor characteristics.
