Researchers found that Tumor Burden Score (TBS) significantly influences survival in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients post-resection. A retrospective analysis of 291 patients showed median overall survival (OS) of 107.4 months for BCLC stage A and 42.7 months for stage B with low TBS. High TBS patients had median OS of 42.3, 25.72, and 16.9 months for stages A, B, and C, respectively. TBS helps stratify BCLC B and C patients, identifying those who benefit from resection for long-term survival.
