Robotic total mesorectal excisions show higher 5-year overall survival rates and comparable long-term oncological outcomes compared to laparoscopic approach for rectal cancer. Additionally, robotic surgery results in lower conversion rates, shorter hospital stays, and fewer postoperative complications. This study suggests robotic surgery as a safe and favorable alternative to traditional approaches for rectal cancer treatment, based on analysis of 594 patients over an 8-year period.
