Modified Lichtenstein Technique Reduces Postoperative Pain and Recurrence

A retrospective study of 289 inguinal hernia surgeries revealed that the modified Lichtenstein technique significantly reduced postoperative pain and recurrence rates. The modified technique demonstrated a 1.5% recurrence rate against 3.1% for the standard method. Pain assessment using the visual analogue scale showed a mean score of 0.15 for the modified group, compared to 0.31 for the traditional approach, indicating enhanced patient comfort and potentially faster recovery for those undergoing the modified procedure.
