Tumor nodules show higher pathology confirmation rates in surgery.

A multicenter study of 707 patients revealed significant variability in surgical peritoneal cancer index (SPCI) recording and lesion pathology confirmation across 10 centers. Notably, ‘tumor nodules’ demonstrated a higher incidence of pathologically confirmed disease, particularly with a lesion score of 2/3 (63.1%) versus 1 (31.5%, p < 0.001). Additionally, the absence of significant differences in disease confirmation between patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy and those having upfront surgery underscores the need for standardized morphological assessments.
