Operative room noise significantly increased error rates for novice surgeons during complex laparoscopic tasks, particularly in circle cutting and suturing, as indicated by p-values of less than 0.01. Higher NASA task load index scores were observed during these tasks, suggesting elevated psychological workload under noise conditions. However, the study found no significant differences in force exertion or instrument motion between noisy and quiet settings. The research underscores the challenge of maintaining surgical precision amid distracting environments.
