A comprehensive risk model for liver resection outcomes has been developed using data from 73,861 patients in Japan. Key findings revealed 30-day and in-hospital mortality rates of 0.9% and 1.7%, respectively. Significant risk factors for postoperative complications included trisectionectomy, hepatectomy for gallbladder cancer, and poor activities of daily living. The internal validation of the model yielded robust c-indices of 0.824 for 30-day mortality and 0.839 for in-hospital mortality, enhancing predictive accuracy.
