A systematic review of 22 studies involving 4,043 patients revealed that enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) significantly reduced overall complications (relative risk: 0.83) and specifically Clavien-Dindo grade 1 and 2 complications. ERAS also led to a shorter time to chemotherapy. Importantly, ERAS demonstrated no increase in severe complications or mortality risk, thus proving to enhance surgical outcomes without compromising patient safety. The effectiveness of ERAS varied by the continent of origin.
