A comparative network meta-analysis revealed that EUS-CDS with lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) outperformed other drainage techniques for distal malignant biliary obstruction (DMBO). This method yielded the highest technical and clinical success rates, particularly after comparing with ERCP and EUS-CDS with self-expandable metal stents. Notably, the study recommends discontinuing percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) as a first-line treatment, citing its poor safety profile, making EUS-CDS with LAMS the preferred choice.
