Narrow band imaging enhances early detection of gastrointestinal lesions

Narrow band imaging-magnifying endoscopy (NBI-ME) demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing gastrointestinal neoplastic lesions. In a study of 1623 patients, NBI-ME achieved an overall sensitivity of 96.2% and specificity of 91.0%. It effectively detected conditions such as Barrett’s esophagus and various gastric lesions, facilitating targeted biopsies and leading to timely interventions in patients with high-grade dysplasia and malignancies. As a result, NBI-ME stands out as a crucial diagnostic tool in gastrointestinal management.
