Findings indicate that class III obesity significantly correlates with adverse postoperative outcomes in emergency general surgery. Out of 78,578 patients analyzed, the risk of 30-day postoperative morbidity escalates with rising obesity classes, particularly highlighting class III obesity as a key risk factor (adjusted odds ratio of 1.14). Additionally, patients with higher obesity classes experienced increased rates of delayed fascial closure, prolonged operative times, reoperation, and extended hospital stays, necessitating further investigation into these relationships.
