In a study involving 130 patients with unresectable colorectal cancer liver metastases, the use of contrast-enhanced intraoperative ultrasound (ce-ious) significantly improved hepatic recurrence-free survival rates compared to standard intraoperative ultrasound alone. Specifically, the ce-ious group demonstrated a lower recurrence rate (hazard ratio 0.55), especially in those with bilobar metastases, fewer than three tumors, or extrahepatic metastasis. This technique altered treatment strategies in nearly 40% of patients, underscoring its clinical value.
