Dexmedetomidine significantly reduces surgical stress response markers.

Administration of dexmedetomidine before surgery markedly lowered serum levels of stress-related biomarkers in patients undergoing ENT procedures. A study involving 100 patients revealed that those receiving dexmedetomidine experienced significant reductions in cortisol, TNF-α, and interleukin-6 levels compared to a control group, with values dropping from 139.73 to 10.18, 99.51 to 0.96, and 85.09 to 0.96, respectively. The intervention also contributed to smoother recovery without nausea or vomiting.
