High burnout rates among emergency and surgical residents identified

A study conducted at King Faisal University found that 63% of emergency and surgical residents reported experiencing burnout, with notable emotional exhaustion (55%) and depersonalization (28%). Significant associations with burnout were noted across demographic factors such as gender, marital status, and experience level. The results emphasize the necessity for targeted interventions to alleviate burnout, revealing complex relationships between burnout, resilience, and demographics, crucial for healthcare professionals’ well-being and patient care quality.
