Virtual scale endoscope outperforms snares in polyp size measurement

A randomized controlled trial with 221 patients showed that the virtual scale endoscope (VSE) achieved superior accuracy in measuring smaller colorectal polyps compared to snare-based techniques. VSE demonstrated an accuracy rate of 80.0%, significantly higher than the 66.4% accuracy from snares, with notably lower misclassification rates for polyps greater than 2mm and 3mm. These results indicate that VSE enhances clinical decision-making regarding polypectomy techniques and surveillance protocols.
