ctDNA dynamics significantly predict recurrence in cholangiocarcinoma patients

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) provides critical prognostic insights for patients with resected extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (eCCA). Findings demonstrate that ctDNA positivity before and during adjuvant chemotherapy is associated with significantly inferior disease-free survival (DFS). Notably, patients who remained ctDNA-negative experienced a markedly longer DFS. These results emphasize ctDNA’s potential in guiding clinical decisions concerning treatment strategies and may enhance personalized interventions aimed at reducing recurrence rates in this high-risk patient population.
