A study of 216 patients with hepatitis C virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma demonstrated that those achieving a sustained virologic response (SVR) through direct-acting antiviral therapy, either pre- or post-surgery, had significantly improved overall and recurrence-free survival rates compared to those without SVR. Specifically, the hazard ratios indicated that SVR was a strong independent predictor of both outcomes. Furthermore, patients achieving SVR with direct-acting antivirals showed better survival rates than those using interferon.
