Robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy shows promising safety and feasibility

Analysis of 425 patients in Japan demonstrates that robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) can be safely introduced, achieving a low conversion rate to open surgery (3.8%) and high minimally invasive surgery completion rate (91.1%). The median operative time was 617 minutes, with a median blood loss of 160 grams. While the complication rate was 20.5%, mortality rates at 30 and 90 days were very low, at 0.2% and 0.5%, respectively, confirming RPD’s potential benefits.
