Sleeve gastrectomy reduces all-cause mortality compared to RYGB.

In adults with morbid obesity, sleeve gastrectomy (SG) significantly lowers all-cause mortality risks during follow-up compared to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). A systematic review and meta-analysis of 22 studies involving 333,713 patients revealed that SG is linked to reduced reoperation, reintervention, and hospitalization rates, although it has a higher revision rate. These findings underscore the potential survival benefits of SG in bariatric surgery, prompting the need for further large-scale trials for validation.
