LASM technique reduces operative time for loop ileostomy

A retrospective analysis of 102 rectal cancer patients demonstrated that the Linea Alba Support Method (LASM) for prophylactic loop ileostomy significantly reduced operative times compared to traditional methods. Key findings included shorter surgery duration (201.8 vs. 223.0 minutes), reduced ileostomy time (10 vs. 22 minutes), and smaller incision lengths (5 vs. 8 cm). Both methods yielded similar postoperative and stoma-related complication rates, indicating LASM’s potential for improved efficiency without compromising safety.
