Young Age Linked to Higher Cancer Treatment Success

In a retrospective analysis of 381 rectal cancer patients, early-onset rectal cancer (EORC) patients, those younger than 50, showed a higher pathological complete response rate (29%) compared to late-onset patients (18.8%). Despite more aggressive neoadjuvant treatments in the EORC group, the type of treatment did not significantly influence response rates. Multivariable analysis identified young age at diagnosis and KRAS wildtype status as independent predictors for achieving a complete response, highlighting crucial factors in treatment outcomes.
