In a comparative study of 59 patients with metachronous colorectal cancer, laparoscopic surgery demonstrated significant advantages over open surgery. Patients who underwent laparoscopic procedures experienced less blood loss (56.80 ml vs. 136.47 ml), faster recovery of bowel function, and shorter hospital stays (7.24 days vs. 10.79 days). Additionally, those in the laparoscopic group returned to bowel function more quickly, with a time to first flatus of 2.20 days compared to 3.50 days in the open group.
