Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass shows significant benefits for diabetes patients

A meta-analysis of ten randomized controlled trials demonstrated that Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) significantly enhances outcomes for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Key findings revealed improved compliance rates, higher remission rates, and reductions in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and fasting blood glucose levels. Additionally, participants experienced substantial weight loss, better lipid profiles, and lower blood pressure. RYGB also minimized the requirement for diabetes medications and reduced the incidence of peripheral neuropathy compared to non-surgical approaches.
