Preoperative NLR and PLR predict colorectal cancer prognosis

Analysis of 1,016 colorectal cancer patients revealed that preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) serve as significant predictors for long-term outcomes, particularly in anastomotic leakage cases. A cutoff of NLR ≥2.89 and PLR ≥157.62 indicated poor survival prognosis. Kaplan-Meier survival curves demonstrated significantly higher 5-year overall and disease-free survival rates in patients with lower NLR and PLR. Calibration and decision curves further validated the predictive accuracy of these models for overall survival and disease-free survival.
